Game Development Competition
Ubisoft Toronto NEXT is a highly competitive annual competition designed to recognize and showcase exceptionally talented video game development students and recent graduates across Ontario. I was tasked with creating a recently-abandoned campsite diorama that demonstrates a variety of technical art skills, with an emphasis on building reusable solutions for level artists and designers. My approach primarily focused on three core objectives to demonstrate my abilities in procedural 3D modeling, shader programming, and general-purpose tool creation. For a complete technical breakdown, the submitted documentation for this project can be viewed here. To briefly summarize, I first programmed a tool that allows developers to apply a custom hydraulic erosion simulation to a hexagonal prism to create a base for the campsite diorama. Next, I created a suite of shader tools to optimize and manipulate PBR materials that could dynamically adapt to a newly generated diorama base model. Last, I developed a scattering tool for efficiently populating the diorama with various objects. Software used: Unity (Shader Graph, VFX Graph) |
